Flying Ravana Mega Zipline

Sri Lanka's first ever mega zipline — 550 metres at 80 km/h

The Flying Ravana experience begins at the reception area at 98 Adventure Park on the eastern edge of Ella, where riders are weighed, fitted with a harness and helmet, and briefed on the launch and braking procedure. A short shuttle then climbs to the launch platform on the lower slopes of Little Adam's Peak, where the dual cables stretch off into the open air across the valley. The dual configuration is one of the experience's defining pleasures — two riders launch simultaneously side by side, racing each other across the half-kilometre span. The actual ride lasts roughly 30 seconds but feels both longer and shorter than that — long enough to take in the panorama of tea estates, distant ridges and the iconic Ella Gap below, short enough that the speed is over almost before the brain has processed it. A magnetic braking system handles deceleration automatically at the landing platform; no rider input is required. After landing, a shuttle returns participants to the reception area to collect personal belongings from the safety lockers. The whole experience from arrival to departure takes around 45 minutes to an hour, and the zipline operates daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, weather permitting.

SkyWalk — Treetop Suspension Bridge

An elevated walkway above the tea estate canopy

The SkyWalk threads its way along the contours of the lower slope at Little Adam's Peak, using a series of suspended bridges and timber platforms to keep walkers permanently several metres above the tea bushes and the forest floor. The route is fully harnessed for safety but moves at the walker's own pace, which makes it ideal for taking in the views and photographing the surroundings at leisure. The platforms themselves serve as natural viewpoints — each frames a different aspect of the valley, with Ella Rock to the north, the Ella Gap dropping away to the south, and the railway line occasionally visible threading along the far hillside. The whole circuit takes around 30 minutes to walk and works particularly well as a complement to the higher-adrenaline activities at the park: many visitors do the zipline or the swing first, then settle the nerves on the SkyWalk. It is also the most accessible of the park's activities for older visitors and children too small for the zipline.

Ella Swing — The Valley Pendulum

A giant swing that arcs out over the open valley

The Ella Swing experience is short, intense and unforgettable. Riders are harnessed at a high anchor point on the platform, walked to the launch position at the platform edge, and then released — a near-vertical drop for a fraction of a second before the cable catches and the swing arc carries them out over the valley in a long, soaring pendulum motion. The peak of the swing is the moment of greatest exposure: the rider is suspended high above the open ground with nothing but the vast view of the Ella valley spread out beneath them, and the swing then carries them back through several decreasing arcs before settling. Operators talk first-time riders carefully through what's about to happen — much of the experience is mental, and the freefall moment is briefer and gentler than first-timers tend to imagine. The whole activity from harness-up to landing takes 15 to 20 minutes, with the swing itself lasting around 30–40 seconds. It is hands down the most adrenaline-intensive activity at Flying Ravana and the strongest choice for anyone seeking maximum thrill in a short timeframe.

ATV Ride — Quad Bikes Through the Tea Estates

Self-drive quad bikes on the working estate trails

The ATV experience begins with a hands-on briefing at the staging area — controls, throttle response, braking, terrain hazards and the signal system used by the lead instructor — followed by a few minutes of low-speed practice in a flat clearing until each rider is comfortable. The convoy then sets off in single file along the estate trails, an instructor leading and another bringing up the rear, the route climbing gently through the tea fields to a series of high points with sweeping views before looping back through wooded sections and across one or two small streams. The terrain is undemanding for an experienced rider but interesting enough to be engaging — there are short steep pitches, a few cambered turns and the occasional muddy patch in the wet season — and the speeds are kept conservative throughout. The whole circuit takes 30 to 45 minutes and is suitable for any reasonably coordinated adult; children can usually ride pillion with a parent. It's a good complement to the higher-adrenaline aerial activities at the park and the only one that puts visitors in direct contact with the working landscape of the tea estates themselves.

Open Double-Decker Ride

A scenic open-top tour through the Ella estates

The double-decker ride uses a converted open-top sightseeing vehicle with a raised upper deck that gives passengers a clear view over the surrounding tea bushes, hedges and walls — a perspective that ground-level walking simply cannot match. The route loops gently through the Flying Ravana access roads, the working estate trails and the upper edge of the valley, with the driver pausing at scenic viewpoints to allow photographs and providing brief commentary on the tea industry, the local geography and the history of the Ella area. The pace is unhurried and the elevation is just high enough to feel different — to see over the top of a tea bush rather than through it, to spot the railway line in the distance, to follow the contours of the valley with the eye. The full tour takes around 30 to 45 minutes and works particularly well as the closing activity of a half-day visit, after the more demanding rides have been completed. It's also the most inclusive option in the park — no fitness, age or weight restrictions, and well-suited to older travellers, very young children, and anyone wanting a calm scenic experience to balance the adrenaline.
